Re: headline Wimberley stuffs St. Michael's. (Wimberley's 25-21, 25-18. 25-23 win) in my mind does not constitute a "stuff." Many of us parents really didn't expect to have more than 10 or 12 points per game. Oh we of little faith!

Wimberley has an awesome team, but I want to congratulate the St. Michael's team for the job they did when the odds were totally against them. They played with 3 to 4 sophomores on the court at any one time against seasoned varsity players. The Sr. setter played outside hitter for the first time since 8th grade, getting several kills for the night. The sophomore middles, one of whom has never played middle before this year, did an outstanding job and showed their competitiveness. Our sophomore setter did a great job of leading the team and even had some great hits herself.

The start of this year has been rough on these young ladies, what with the illnesses, injuries, and such high expectations from them, both here in Central Texas and state wide. Coach Kane has done a marvelous job of motivating the girls and maintaining his perspective. This whole team has shown heart and dedication. They show great potential. So, even if St. Michael's drops out of the rankings they will remain high in the hearts of their parents and fans. - Mom, Austin (posted 8/31)

Thank you for your AWESOME, timely coverage of the Duncanville Tournament. You're starting to scare me because we're becoming dependent on your timely updates about Texas Volleyball - keep it up! - Jim, Arlington (posted 8/24)

As discussed back in April, two rally games to fifteen is not long enough for tournament pool play. I went to grab a drink at the beginning of one of these matches and when walked back in they were switching sides of the net for game two. I understand there is value in these games not counting but why so doggone short? The UIL should use some common sense and play these games to 21 or even more next year. I dont understand the logic of making pool play shorter than the already shortened two sideout scoring games to 11 of years past. – DW (posted 8/23)

RE: Aug 20th headline - Playing without Natalie Peters, St. Michael's lost a dramatic five-set battle with Dripping Springs despite 18 kills by Michael Faulkner and 33 assists by little sister Dylan. One player doesn't make a great or highly ranked team. St. Michael's lost to a talented group of young girls from Dripping Springs. 5 out of 6 DS starters played in the 2003 Jr Nationals and represented Texas volleyball well. DS had over 23 blocks! - DS father (posted 8/22)

I am always interested in the talented players in Texas and how they are percieved. In regards to your All-Texas team, it seems that since the players out in West Texas are not as visible, they do not get a lot of credit. I have watched just about all the major tournaments in Texas plus the various nationals and there are teams from the panhandle that always place well. And yet there are only a handfull of players mentioned in the All Texas team from out here. I know of more than a few players out here that are good enough to be in the All Texas articale. I think it is great that there is a web site committed to Texas volleyball, but there is a big state out there and a lot of ground to cover. There is no way that there are only five players in the panhandle that deserve this recognition. - DKL (posted 8/19)

I would just like to thank you for posting the memorial for Lu Allen on your website. Not only was she a dedicated and successful coach, she was also a great grandmother to me and my sister (a sophomore setter at Brewer High School). Our family is honored by your memorial, and we deeply appreciate it. Our Nana would be proud! - Sincerely, Jackie Allen (posted 8/13)

Enjoyed your rankings. And thanks for the detailed analysis of why you selected each team. I'd just like to add my prediction. We'll finish above Red Oak and New Braunfels when it's all over. - Friendswood Fan (posted 8/12)

Sorry, but I just had to sound off about your recent Texas rankings omitting the Aledo Ladycats. They return five starters from a team that went to Regionals last year and have a good chance to make some noise in 4A this year. I do admit I am biased because my daughter (Jessica Dorrell) plays on the team, but I still think they have a good shot to make the state tournament. We should know something early when they travel to Abilene for a tournament there. Thanks for all of your great info on the website. Keep up the good work. - JD (posted 8/11)

Editor's Note: The depth and quality of 5A teams in Texas is going to make it more difficult for any but the elite 4A teams to make the rankings this year. But just as Red Oak, New Braunfels and others were able to prove themselves last year by beating top teams, everyone - regardless of size - has a chance to do the same this year.
